Canova experience

Sharing pictures from the visit of Canova house and Museum in Possagno last June. Drawing there was truly amazing Teseo e il Centauro (The marble sculpture dominates the stairs in Vienna Kunsthistorishes Museum) Centauromachia is one of the stories told in the methopes of Athens Partenon. It Is extraordinary how greeks used all available space to show the infinite shape of human body. Canova was completely amazed and captured by that. Loved how he painted greek figures as an Ideal of body through art gaze.... Details are often more convincing than the entire sculpture
